More Diving Awards and we are so pleased :)

Newsletter April 2013

Another lovely month here is Tenerife we have had some fabulous calm seas (well once the storm went!!) and the sun has been shining.  We have also been to a new dive site in the north of the island Punta Teno which is where the north meets the south.  This was a fabulous dive site and we saw a very large Black Sting Ray, truly amazing.

You can almost feel the summer arriving! Easter is all set to be a busy period.

Even more fantastic news for us here at Dive and Sea Tenerife as we were accepted into the PADI Green star award.  We are the only Dive Centre in the whole of the canaries to be both 100% Project AWARE and have the PADI Green Star Award.

Emelyne and Gary have both been doing really well and are  working hard on completing  their Advanced Open Water Diver Course as well as having lots of fun diving.

It was great to welcome Peter back to the dive centre but this time joining us as a Divemaster Intern.  Peter joins us as an Open Water diver with only 8 dives.  This week he will start his Advanced Open Water Diver Course and Brian and Gary will complete their final dive Navigation.

At the end of the month we are looking forward to welcoming Sebastien who is from Belgium who is joining the internship as a non diver.  We are all looking forward to meeting him and seeing his progress all the way to Divemaster.

Things Every Diver should have

Own mask, having a comfortable mask is such an important part of your dive if you have a mask that leaks through out the dive this will impair your enjoyment of the dive.

There is a massive selection of masks available with an array of wonderful colours to choose from HOWEVER don’t be side tracked by your favourite colours the most important part is that the mask fits you properly!

So How to tell if a Mask actually fits you properly

  1. Place the mask on your face and look upwards with the strap loose infront of your face.  The mask skirt should rest evenly against your face the whole way round.
  2. Inhale slightly through your nose, the mask should pull snugly into place and stay well enough that you can turn or shake your head without is coming loose.
 Some popular masks are

Aqualung Favola                Mares X Vision           Subgear Sprite       Aqualung Teknika
49.98 Euros                      42 Euros                    45 Euros                49.50 Euros

Dive Site Review

El Delfin

Dive and Sea Tenerife diving at El Delfin

This site is one of our newest sites, every diver we take to this site has had a fantastic dive, so its become a favourite of ours.

We named the site El Delfin because at 40 meters a small statue of a dolphin can be found.  This site is suitable for Advanced divers and above and is located approximately 5 or 6 minutes outside of the Marina.

We descend from the boat into around 20 meters of water and head over to the rocky outcrop. We move around the different levels of the large rock formation searching for the hidden gems.

When we have visited this site we have come across, Rays, Canarian Lobster, Fangtooth Moray Eels, as well as Lots of Large Bream, Trumpet fish and a selection of amazing anemones.
