Happy New Year to you all.
We all hope that you had a wonder Christmas and fantastic New Years celebrations and like us are all raring to go for the New Year.
We would like to say a big thank you for your continued support of us and our dive centre, it has been a pleasure this year to welcome back more familiar faces as well as a joy to meet so many new and interesting people throughout the year.
A big thank you to all our Divemaster Interns this year who have supported all of us customers included with all their hard work determination and enthusiasm.
December was a great month for us here at Dive and Sea Tenerife it was great to meet so many divers on their first ever diving experiences, as well as welcoming back lots of familiar faces for continued education and or recreational diving.
We were so lucky that every single week we had sighting of Dolphins from the boat and shore now who can fail to be cheered by such a sight first thing in the morning. December was unseasonably warm and sunny much to our delight and we hope that the New Year continues on this theme.
Team update
We had our Santa dive to the delight of all the interns. It was so much fun diving in our Santa suits and Melissa even had on Reindeer ears which she was pleased to find still there at the end of her dive! The people in the Marina looked on with amusement as we left waving singing Feliz Navidad!!
Alice has been happy to start teaching her first courses and prior to going away for her Christmas holidays to work as one of Santa’s Elves she taught 2 Open Water Courses, 3 Advanced Course, a Wreck diver speciality and a Nitrox Speciality. So she’s looking forward to the new year for more teaching opportunities.
Pete was delighted to finally get his Dry Suit, no more cold mornings for him as he has enjoyed gloating over the last few weeks.
Divemaster Internship Updates
Well done to Dennis, Andreas and Mahmoud for passing their Divemaster Courses. We all wish you the best for your future careers and hope to see you back in Tenerife soon. We said a fond farewell to Lydia who stayed with us for 13 weeks continuing her studies and promises she will be back!
Dive Site Review
Tabaiba
A fantastic shore dive site located in the north of the island approximately a 45 minute drive away from the dive centre, for Advanced divers and above.
To enter the water you can either climb down the ladder or depth permitting Giant Stride into the water, you follow along the pipeline until suddenly looming in the distance you see El Raton the Wreck. This wreck was deliberately sunk The Wreck is situated at approximately 30 meters and for those with a Wreck diving speciality it is possible to enter the wreck.
Around the wreck is an abundance of aquatic life its great to see the wreck developing year on year with new life appearing such as Anemones, Red Back Cleaner shrimp and even a small statue of a dog!
This is a great dive site for those considering doing the Advanced Open Water Diver course or Wreck Diving Speciality.
Dive Equipment

The Momentum M1 watch is perhaps the most popular watch within the Momentum range combining practical elements with great functionality and quality manufacturing.

The Momentum M1 dive watch is available with either Nylon/Webbing strap or Rubber strap in both Mens and Ladies design.
This Dive watch is nice and light weight and very comfortable to wear the best thing is that it has such a nice slim design that it’s a great everyday watch as well as a dive watch. Its also available in a range of colours of course Melissa had to have pink but there are less girly options available.

Divemaster Internship
If you would like more information about our Divemaster Internships please email melissa@diveandseatenerife.com
You can do the PADI Divemaster internship in as little as 8 week's or increase this, depending on the time and finances you have available, up to 12 week's for additional experience.
We provide all the training for FREE, however there are costs involved with regards PADI materials, diving insurance, accommodation & equipment. Please see page. We accept all levels of certification and non-divers who want a new challenge are more than welcome.
All diving is FREE for the whole duration you are with us, some of our interns manage over 100 dives! Each intern gets a minimum of 60 dives.
On staff we have a PADI Master Instructor, PADI Assistant Instructor and PADI Divemaster, who are all there to ensure your Divemaster Internship runs smoothly, and that you make the best of all of the opportunities that are presented to you.
Pete is a PADI Master Instructor and is one of the owners of the dive centre. Since Pete became an Instructor he has quickly progressed through the PADI rankings of Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Staff Instructor and is now a Master Instructor. Pete has attained 14 different Specialities that he is able to teach and has a fantastic knowledge of the diving world and diving theory. He will over see your entire internship and complete all of your PADI Courses.
Alice our PADI Instructor who joined us as a non-certified diver and stayed as an intern for 13 weeks. Upon completion of her Divemaster internship with us see went to work in Gran Canaria. She returned to work with us in June 2012 and has now trained to become a PADI Instructor. Alice is there as a mentor to the Divemaster Interns, don’t forget she has been through the same process that you will be going through and so she is a font of information not only on diving but also on the internship.
Melissa is a very experienced Divemaster and is also the other owner of the Dive centre. Melissa is responsible for all of the administrative side of your internship, so any paperwork queries look no further. Melissa has a wealth of knowledge about diving and is happy to answer any questions you might have. She is also responsible for all of our shore diving and will take you out for fun recreational dives during your internship.
Our PADI Dive centre has trained more PADI Divemaster’s than any other centre in the area and the majority have gone on to use the qualification for employment in some form or for continuing their education.
We run the internships all year round, however in the summer places are very limited due to our popularity.
Not PADI certified, don't worry, as there are crossovers for all levels of BSAC, SSAC, CMAS, FEDAS, SSI, NAUI, SAA, SCOT SAC etc, so just let us know what agency and what level you are and we will tell you the next PADI level required.
So what will you actually be doing on your internship?
Here at Dive and sea Tenerife we try and make your internship as similar to the role of a working Divemaster as possible. That means that each day is hard work but also good fun.
A typical day for a Divemaster Intern, is to arrive at the Dive Centre in the morning and begin by preparing the equipment for the days diving
This may consist of equipment for the pool, or for boat, or shore diving or all 3. The vehicles are then loaded and the customers arrive.
A strong focus is placed on good communication skills with customers who are with us at the Dive Centre, and ensuring that everyone who enters the Dive Centre or dives with us has first class experience.
Everyone heads off to do their role for the day, be this taking part in a PADI scuba diving course, assisting an Instructor / Assistant Instructor or Divemaster in the swimming pool or ocean, buddying up with a customer or on Boat Cover duty. All of these roles are equally as important and all interns will take each role during their internship
